As you may have heard by now, K-Mart has decided to phase out the sales of handgun ammunition. K-Mart claims this is purely a business decision. Yet, this appeared in an AP press release: 'Three Columbine survivors and filmmaker Michael Moore, who is best known for a 1989 documentary that assailed General Motors Corp.'s actions in closing a plant in his hometown of Flint, met with Kmart executives in Troy for four hours Wednesday. They requested that the ammunition be removed from shelves. Fracker said the phasing out of ammunition began Thursday.' Let K-Mart know how you feel. Contact them HERE

Ace Hardware and Rosie Ace Hardware has aligned themselves with Rosie O’Donnell. OurHouse.com is "backed by a 20 percent ownership stake from Ace Hardware" in a strategy of "billing itself as an upscale - and online - version of the corner hardware store," and in a deal valued at $100 million. The Industry Standard (Dec. 14, 2000) described as "OurHouse's newly forged ties to The Rosie O'Donnell Show" in its bid to attract more women customers. (See more HERE.) Lowe’s Anti-Gun Message On their website Lowe’s offers home security tips. Unfortunately they have teamed up with John’s Hopkins to develop an anti-gun message. They stated that, 'Homes without guns are safer for children.' They also stated, 'Homes with guns are much more likely to have a murder or suicide of a family member than in homes without guns. Thank you for your recent email regarding Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse The following addresses concerns expressed by yourself and the NRA about certain firearm safety-related content on Lowe's web site and the web site of our non-profit home safety organization, Lowe's Home Safety Council. Lowe's is a home improvement retailer, and it is certainly not our intent to take a public policy position on the overall issue of Second Amendment rights in the U.S. The information in question was provided to Lowe's by a third party, the Consumer Federation of America, who had obtained it from Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. We understand that certain elements of that information may be viewed as being subjective; therefore, it has been removed from our web site. Frankly, a more careful reading of that information by our staff, before it was posted, may have eliminated this issue before it occurred. As the world's second largest home improvement retailer, Lowe's sells many of the products used to make America's homes a safer place to live. For that reason, we're very proud of our efforts to promote home safety awareness among our customers and the public at large. However, as it relates to firearms, Lowe's position is to simply encourage the safe storage of firearms in and around the home - period.
