Welcome

Jury protects right of self defense, but Police Chief ignores it! Lawrence Mass.

July 2006

Jury finds defendant not guilty on assault with a firearm charge, but the Police Chief,  revokes the man’s firearm license.  The Police Chief actually says he realizes the man was found not guilty, then with disregard for our constitutional system, decides to overrule the jury and treat the man as if he were guilty.   This is abuse of power by government, a prevalent attitude among Police Chiefs that won't change until we, the citizens, make it change by being outraged and letting that outrage be heard.

I first learned about this case while listening yesterday morning to the Scott Allen Miller show on WRKO radio on the AM dial.

This is from the WRKO Scott Miller blog:

LAWRENCE , Mass. : Jury finds Marine NOT GUILTY of assault with a deadly weapon charge (shotgun).   After years of complaints to the city about the noise, the fights, the traffic congestion, the vandalism, and loitering falling on deaf ears, he finally defended his family with force after a bottle was thrown through one of his windows around 2 AM on a weekend night when he'd already called police. With a wife and two kids in his home and not knowing whether the situation outside was about to become more violent, Sgt Cotnoir took action.    ........from the scotto bloggo   http://iamscotto.blogspot.com/2006/06/my-hero.html

This jury did what it was established to do.  It protected a citizen from government abuse.  The jury voted their conscience.  They voted for what was right after learning that the defendant was acting in defense of himself, his family and his home.
