"I believe that criminals can obtain any firearm at any time,
why would we want to limit them from the law-abiding citizen?"

NO GUNS FOR NEGROES! [VIDEO]  Part 1 | Part 2

NEW!  Thanks to VCDL and snowflakesinhell.com you can read details of Bloomberg's and his anti-2nd amendment group of mayors' secret plan for citizen disarmament.  We need to regain rather than lose our freedom and liberty.

In Maryland, a woman who must travel alone late at night in a high crime area or on isolated roads because she's a nurse or has a family emergency may not keep a firearm in her car for self-defense, although in those states that do not illegally restrict rights guaranteed by the constitution they do not have increased criminal behavior (it actually decreases).  Bloomberg is all about infringements of our rights guaranteed by the 2nd amendment (except for himself and other elites), and so are key Maryland officials.

An April 29, 2009 review of whitehouse.gov found all references to second amendment infringement, including the proposed gun ban, end of the Tiahrt Amendment, and end of the "gun show loophole" (euphemism for ending private sales) had been scrubbed, just in time for the new administration's first 100 days report!

"The Centers for Disease Control did an extensive review of various types of gun control: waiting periods, registration and licensing, and bans on certain firearms.  It found that the idea that gun control laws have reduced violent crime is simply a myth." --John Stossel, ABC News

"Here we go again, letting more prisoners out so crime rates go up and corrupt politicians make more guns laws to prevent law abiding citizens from protecting themselves."

"As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression.
In both instances, there is a twilight.  And it is in such twilights
that we all must be aware of change in the air, however slight,
lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness."

--Justice William O. Douglas, U.S. Supreme Court (1939-75)

Is Democracy Dead in Maryland?
The Saga of
SB 420

In the last four (4) sessions (including 2009) of the Maryland General Assembly, civil immunity bills were unanimously supported in the House, and moved on to the Senate, where they landed in the Judicial Proceedings Committee and died in Chairman Brian Frosh's desk drawer.

These bills would protect a law-abiding citizen from frivolous lawsuits brought by criminals or their families when a homeowner injures or kills a violent criminal.  Senator Frosh would have you believe that, since these lawsuits have (so far) failed, there is nothing to worry about.  In fact, loss of time from work for meetings with attorneys and time in court, attorneys' fees, and emotional trauma are still fallout from such suits and could bankrupt a victim.

SAS strongly supports this legislation, and considers it important for women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, who frequently are the targets of violent crime because they are easy prey.

On March 20, 2009 the Montgomery County Gazette cited Senator Frosh's statement that this bill is "deeply flawed in the way it is drafted and deeply flawed in concept."  SAS is disappointed that Senator Frosh has not approached pro-self defense advocates with ideas on how to craft a bill that would achieve the desired outcome without alleged "flaws".

ISenator Frosh has the knowledge to write a bill that would satisfy self-defense advocates and protect innocent victims.  Why does he continue to desk-drawer veto these bills and thwart the will of the people of Maryland and their elected officials?  Why does he take the side of criminals over the rights of victims?

Democracy apparently is dead in Maryland.  (Revised 4/24/09)

"To ignore all evidence of the meaning and intent of one of those rights included in the Bill of Rights is to create the most
dangerous sort of precedent, one whose consequences could
flow far beyond this one issue and endanger the fabric of liberty."
--Joyce Lee Malcolm
